"Connecting home and school makes us a great community of learners."
Parental involvement is crucial in the success of my students. Keeping parents up to date on what is happening in the classroom and involving them in our class can help immensely. A few ways I will incorporate parental involvement will be by a meet the teacher letter, weekly newsletter, and providing zip kits.
Meet the Teacher Letter
A meet the teacher letter will be sent home on the first week of school so parents will get to know a little bit more about me and parents will have contact information so they can reach me.
Newsletter
A newsletter will be sent home weekly. It will highlight the topics we are covering for the week as well as upcoming information such as field trips, book fairs, fundraisers, etc.
Zip Kits
Zip Kits are take home activities that reiterate class concepts at home with parental help. Each student is given a gallon Ziploc bag with everything they need to complete the zip kit inside. Once they have completed their zip kit, the student will use the provided checklist to make sure all pieces are packed back into the Ziploc bag and returned to the class along with their recording sheet where they recorded their activity.
